The weather has been unbelievable. Actually unbelievable.
Gorgeous days for being outside, working outside, eating outside, and looking outside.
And today and tomorrow again, will be 20+ degrees warmer than average.
We were driving home last night and it was 75-77F for most of the drive.
Historical average is 53F.
Woke up this morning and it was 65F at 5am.
Historical average is 39F.
And we haven't received a cumulative 1" of rain for two months on the farm and counting...
We're awestruck at the beauty and comfort of this fall so far.
And we're dumbfounded and confused at the sustained dryness and warmth.
It is both beautiful and challenging. Enjoyable and worrisome.
We're glass-half-full kind of folks, so we're soaking it in, enjoying it, and not taking anything for granted.
We've also got kids who want a bonfire and weather that can't support that decision.
We had crops who needed water, but they've since been harvested and we've moved on.
We have potatoes to harvest and it's hot and dry compared to usually cold and wet.
We have fields that need plowing but it's too dry to risk watching it all blow away.
And again, we're grateful to be comfortable, to have tomatoes that are producing well, peppers that are still ripening, and our greenhouse heating bill has been almost non-existent.
It's a strange position to be in. We're loving it in the moment, pondering the big things as we go, and trusting that it will all work out.
As for today, we'll be enjoying the warmth, digging more potatoes, and running irrigation on everything. Again.

And this is THE time to get on the road and traverse the countryside embracing the colorful palette of Mother Nature.
Just to make sure it was this beautiful beyond our farm, we took a country drive throughout the county on Sunday and we can confirm, this week is peak!
The color is a little uneven with the exceedingly dry fall we've had, so there are some dark greens mixed in with the bright reds and oranges, but the contrast is beautiful.
If you leaf peeping takes you down Atkins, Mitchell, Maplewood, or Cedar Valley - and we hope it does! - be sure to stop in and say hey!
We are OPEN six days a week from Monday - Saturday in the market and Wednesday - Saturday at the Food Truck.
Speaking of Food Truck, if you haven't seen the forecast for later this week, you should check it out! It's like Mother Nature knows which days we want to be dining outside! Cold today and Tuesday, but holy smokes is the back half of this week looking spectacular!

Pumpkins galore, corn maze, pumpkin bowling, hayrides, pumpkin smashing, live music, squash rocket, apple cannons, cider & donuts, brick oven pizza, wine tasting, beer, hard cider, market, gnome house hunt, playground, animals and more! Dog friendly. Live music today from 11am-2pm by Delilah DeWylde & 3-6pm by Yankee Station!
Our busiest time of day is typically 12-3pm. We do have capacity limits and may possibly have to turn cars away for a while if we reach these limits. We apologize as this is out of our control. We suggest taking a ride for an hour or so through the gorgeous tunnel of trees to visit Good Hart or Cross Village or heading to downtown Harbor Springs.
