FALL COLOR UPDATE via Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park - the "Porkies" --> Fall color update. Here is a few shots from today at Lake of the Clouds. I'll try to get a shot from Summit Peak tomorrow. The color changes much earlier at Summit Peak. Lake of the Clouds is much slower to turn. We'll keep posting updates.

I was thinking about heading up this weekend, just somewhere in the UP, but I guess the colors won't be showing too much.

Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park - the Porkies

Fall color update:

Not a lot of color right now. This shot was taken 9/27 at Lake of the Clouds. There are some pockets where there is more color. Maybe 25% fall color with pockets as much as 40%. Too foggy today to get a shot of Lake of the Clouds.

At Lake of The Clouds, our Photographer friend, David Braithwaite, shares with us this sunrise photo he took this morning. Thanks David! He also said he shared the time there with about 50 other photographers! Peak weekend for sure! ‪#‎midnr‬ ‪#‎miparks‬ ‪#‎puremichigan‬ ‪#‎lakeoftheclouds‬

Grab your cameras and head for the hills this weekend… a fantastic fall color tour weekend is happening in the Porcupine Mountains…

We are calling this the peak weekend as our color has come on fast and vibrant. The park is now 75% to 100% color. With any luck it may hold for the week ahead. Chairlift rides at the ski hill will be going on also this weekend, on Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 7pm. Tickets are $5.00 and kids under 12 are free. (photos courtesy Adriana Knack)

Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park - the Porkies

A slow, steady increase in color blankets the Porkies. This morning's sunlight reveals subtle progression... bringing the park to a 25% - 45% color wash throughout. More color inland, less near the lakeshore.

Fall Color Chairlift Rides continue this weekend at the Winter Sports Complex on Saturday and Sunday from Noon until 7 pm. $5.00 per adult, kids 12 and under are free. #midnr #miparks #fall

We had a great time last weekend. Took the chair lift up, had happy hour at the Observation Deck then walked down. Highlight of our trip.
