Grand Hotel – Somewhere in Time Weekend – October 25 – 27, 2019

Somewhere In Time

Celebrate the 29th Anniversary of Somewhere in Time Weekend

Every year Somewhere in Time Weekend is one of our most popular and special weekends during the Grand Hotel season. The movie Somewhere in Time was filmed at Grand Hotel and on Mackinac Island in 1979 and the movie was released in 1980. See pictures from a 1980 Grand Hotel Newsletter from when the crew was filming.

This is the perfect weekend for movie lovers who want to know the cinematic secrets of the timeless romantic classic and a chance to visit with many people who played a role in the movie. In 2015 the lovely Jane Seymour visited Grand Hotel for the 35th Anniversary of the film and the 25th Anniversary of Somewhere in Time Weekend. It was a year to remember. She surprised guests with a replica of the Elise McKenna’s dress she wore in the film.

I love that place. I had been inside. I believe Chris is there in spirit, hence the beautiful flowers. Have fun!

Every time I watch the film, I feel magically transformed. Thank you John Barry, Jane Seymour, Christopher Plummer and R.I.P. Christopher Reeve.

thanks for sharing

Thank you for sharing. .....I came to the island.....because I knew it was Somewhere In Time week. And though not at The Grand....am here to share in the love for Jane/Elise and Chris/Richard....enjoying all the folks in their Somewhere In Time costumes. Am loving all your posts....have a nice time Jane.

I was there while it was being filmed. I got a picture of Jane coming off a carriage to film and I have a picture of Christopher Reeve smiling at me then he winked....I was only 10 years old. What a experience! <3

One of my favorite movies of all time.

My favorite for since the first time I saw it....33 years ago..

That was ONE BEAUTIFUL MOVIE. miss Seymour. Sad, and then beautiful ending....

One of my Favorite Movies ever ! It never played at the Movie Theaters because there was a strike going on the weekend of its release. But about 20 years ago my husband surprised me to a Special Somewhere In Time weekend in Chicago and we all were able to meet some cast members and Watch the Movie on the Big Screen . I will never forget that wonderful day.

SOMEWHERE IN TIME is legendary!!! R.I.P. Christopher Reeves!!! Christopher Plummer is badass in this movie but Jane Seymour is a goddess from another time in this movie!!! Solitaire(Live And Let Die) was sexy but Elise was stunning!!!

Hi Jane would love to have met you today. I watched you and Christopher Reeves being filmed for your wonderful movie. I was born on and graduated high school on Mackinac Island in 1979. Still tear up every time I watch Somewhere In Time. Brings back beautiful memories of a wonderful Summer. Enjoy your visit and Welcome back.

You look the same Jane. I enjoyed being an extra in the movie and hanging out with Reeves and Plummer. Great memories!

Thanks for sharing!

I remember being on Mackinaw Usland when " Somewhere in Time" was filming. My girls & I delivered a " Superman cookie" to Christopher Reeves! Crazy idea hey? We did get a handwritten thank you note from Chris!👍🏽💥

I wish Chris was there also !!! I love, love, love this movie

My absolute favorite movie!!!!!! Chris is there in spirit!

The ultimate romantic film.

I would have loved to be there. So lovely of you to share your carriage ride.

My very most favorite movie! That's when I fell for Jane!

As lovely today as she was back in 1979 when she filmed it!

As soon as 'Chris' is mentioned, I teared up. He is definitely with you. Everyone will feel it I'm sure.

This is great! Enjoy and Happy SWIT Anniversary!!!

When i first came up to the Grand, I was playing the soundtrack from the movie and sobbing. I had to call my best friend that I had seen the movie with when it first came out...i was crying and saying I'm here...I finally made it! Took me 30 some years bit I made it! Still one of the most precious moments of my life!

I was just thinking the same of Mr Reeve glad you are there enjoy the beauty wonderful movie Somewhere in time😇
