Fall Color Tours! Maps & Guides!
Fall Color Update – October 15, 2019
I hope everyone was able to get out for the fall color last weekend. There were wide-spread PEAK FALL COLOR conditions throughout Northern Lower Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. If you missed last weekend, you have another week for find a bounty of fall color and then probably another week after that for some good late season fall color.
In the Western U.P. the interior routes are now past peak. You can still find some late-peak color along the Lake Superior shoreline. Still a good time to catch the last of the color at Lake of the Clouds in the Porcupine Mountains. And of course the waterfalls in the Western U.P. are beautiful year-round. (NOTE: Chairlift rides continue this week and weekend at Copper Peak – Copper Peak Ski Jump and Adventure Ride – Western U.P.. The chairlift rides at Porcupine Mountains Ski Area have ended for the fall season.)
You still should be able to find some late-peak conditions along interior routes in the Eastern U.P. And fall color should still be good this weekend along routes along Lake Superior.
The color on Mackinac Island is now peaking and you should be able to find good color on Mackinac Island through the weekend with great late season color through the weekend of October 26 & 27.
In Northern Lower Michigan fall color is peaking now along all interior routes. Some interior regions will be moving past peak going into the weekend. Routes along the Lake Michigan shore – such as M-22 in Benzie and Leelanau County – should have good color. And this should be a peak weekend to travel the Tunnel of Trees north of Harbor Springs.
