Fall Color in Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula!
Fall Color Tours! Maps & Guides!
Fall Color Update – October 17, 2016
There is still time to see the 2016 Fall Color Show in Michigan. Some areas in the interior of the Upper Peninsula are past peak, however you can still find good late season color and some peak color in area near the shorelines of Lake Superior and Lake Michigan. The weekend of October 22 & 23 will likely be the last weekend to see any substantial fall color in the Upper Peninsula.
We are getting reports of peak color and color getting close to peak in many areas of Northern Lower Michigan. The area north of Gaylord (in the center of the state) was peak this last weekend and many other areas had near peak color. The colors in many areas will be peaking this week and should be peak for the weekend of October 22 & 23. There should be color lasting into next week and the following weekend of October 29 & 30.
The Copper Peak Ski Jump and Adventure Ride in the Western U.P. is operating 7 days a week now through October 23. Take the ski lift and elevator to the top of the Copper Peak Ski Jump for some of the best (and exhilarating) views of rugged Western U.P. and Lake Superior.
You can also get a good view of the fall colors from chairlift rides in Northern Lower Michigan. Check out the fall color in Benzie County while enjoy a Fall Chairlift Ride at Crystal Mountain. If you are in the Petoskey area, fall chairlift rides are up and running at Boyne Mountain and Boyne Highlands.
Get out and enjoy this wonderful weather in October and check back for fall color updates all season long.
