Fall Color Update - October 27, 2009
We are past peak in Northern Lower Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, however, there is still plenty of georgeous golds and oranges and yellows in the trees. The color is really holding on this year. You can still find plenty of peak-like color in various spots in Northern Michigan and there are a lot of Halloween activities around the region this weekend, so don’t hesitate to make one more trip to see the fall color.
Fall Color Watch for October 28 - November 3, 2009 (michigan.org)
The 2009 fall color show is coming to a close with peak viewing conditions reported in the Southwest and Southeast Lower Peninsula. Good fall color conditions are reported in Holly, Jackson, Milford, Shelby Township and Tipton, with color development at peak.
Excellent viewing conditions are reported in Ann Arbor, Holland, Saugatuck and the St. Joseph/New Buffalo area, with some areas past peak. In many locations, rain and wind have reduced the number of leaves still hanging.
Take time out from touring the colors to visit a farm market, pumpkin patch, or cider mill before the season changes. The Ann Arbor area—now displaying peak colors– has an abundance of fall activities and attractions. Stop by one of the area’s historic cider mills External Link and refresh yourself with a delicious donut and fresh-pressed cider.
