Fall Color Tours! Maps & Guides!
Fall Color Update – September 27, 2016
Some color is beginning to appear in the interior regions of the Upper Peninsula, however, the real peak color is about a week away. There may be areas of early peak color in the Upper Peninsula this weekend – October 1 & 2 – but right now it looks like the best weekend for peak color this year will be October 8 & 9 – with more late season peak color for the following weekend, October 15 & 16.
Some glimpses of color in Northern Lower Michigan. Look for some early peak color in Northern Lower Michigan for the weekend of October 8 & 9 with color peaking for the weekends of October 15 & 16 and October 22 & 23.
The mild weather so far in September has set back any significant early fall color. However, if you want to so early season fall color scouting, there are some great early season happenings. The Copper Peak Ski Jump and Adventure Ride in the Western U.P. is operating 7 days a week now through October 23. Take the ski lift and elevator to the top of the Copper Peak Ski Jump for some of the best (and exhilarating) views of rugged Western U.P. and Lake Superior.
You can also treat yourself to fall chairlift rides starting this weekend at the Porcupine Mountains Ski Area. They will be running the lifts Saturday and Sunday from noon to 7pm. The Fall Color Chair Lift Rides at the Porcupine Mountains Ski Area will be operating through the first three weekends of October – Sept. 17-18, 24-25 and Oct. 1-2, 8-9 and 15-16.
Get out and enjoy this wonderful weather in September and check back for fall color updates all season long.
