Fall Color in Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula!
Fall Color Tours! Maps & Guides!
Fall Color Update – October 17, 2017
Hurry up if you are planning a fall color tour of the Upper Peninsula. This will probably be the last weekend – October 21 & 22 – to see the fall color show in the U.P. Inland routes are likely to be a little past peak and routes near the shoreline of Lake Superior and Lake Michigan will still have some pretty good peak color.
The fall color on Mackinac Island is a little behind this year. You should find close-to-peak color this weekend on the island. And the color will likely last through the weekend of October 28 & 29. The big Mackinac Island Halloween festivities will take place Saturday, October 28, so you can enjoy the fall color and take part in the extravagant Halloween celebrations on the island.
In Northern Lower Michigan, the peak color is coming along on all of the inland routes. This should be a peak weekend in the middle part of Northern Michigan, including Cadillac, Grayling, Gaylord and parts north. If you visit the Petoskey area, take the interior routes to see the most vivid color this weekend. You’ll also be able to see early-season color along the shoreline routes such as the Tunnel of Trees. There should still be some peak color along the shoreline routes for the weekend of October 28 & 29.
The same situation goes for those visiting Traverse City. Inland routes should have some good peak colors while shoreline routes such as M22 in Manistee, Benzie and Leelanau Counties will have some early season color. Color should peak along those routes next week and should be good for the weekend of October 28 & 29.
